Guangdong Maoming Petrochemical Industrial Zone

　　 Crude oil processing and chemical production are the mainstays of Sinopec Maoming Petrochemical Company (MPCC). The existing refinery consists of 70 plants and units, including 4sets of atmospheric and vacuum distillation units, 3 sets of fluidized catalytic cracking units, 2 sets of platinum-reformers, 1 hydrocracking unit, 1 VRDS unit and 1 light lube oil processing system. It has primary processing capacity of 13.5 million MTY, a secondary processing capacity of 7 million MTY. With advanced equipment and technology, MPCC has been processing more than 61 kinds of crude oil from 26 countries and regions. It has adopted international standard for its main petroleum products and product upgraded rate gas maintained at 100% and 46 kinds of its products have been awarded as state or provincial high quality ones. Now MPCC stands in the first rank at home in processing sulfuric crude from Middle East, in production of light diesel, jet fuel and high-grade road asphalt, as well as in the field of energy saving among refineries.Crude oil processing capacity will be 20 million MTY in the long term period.

　　 On 8th August 1992, MPCC 300,000 MTY ethylene project was approved and enlisted as one of the large-sized petrochemical construction projects in the eighth Five Year Plan by the State Council. With the total investment of more than 15 billion yuan (RMB) and the area of 160 hectares, MPCC ethylene project was commenced in its construction formally on 8th December 1993, and successful commissioning in August 1996. In December 1999, the project passed the National Project Completion Acceptance. Its capacity has reached 1 million MTY after being enlarged and revamped in October 2006. MPCC Ethylene Complex has obtained ISO9002 quality system approval in October 2000.
MPCC Ethylene Complex consists of 10 big-sized operation plants and 13 auxiliary units and workshops. It has more than 2,700 workers and staff, and 60% of them have accepted college or higher level education. The main operation plants have adopted with the licenses from the United States, Japan and Italy. Nowadays, the process technologies have reached the advanced level and the operation are under highly automatic control. More than 200 kinds of NANHAI products of synthetic resins, synthetic rubbers and organic chemical are supplied to the markets. Ever since the start-up, MPCC Ethylene Complex has continuously fulfilled its production from 1997 to 1999 and continued the operation for 28 months since the first start-up without overhaul,and since 1999 realized the production output without overhaul in this 51 months, making a new record in Chinese petrochemical industry development. All its economic and technological indexes have reached the advanced level of the petrochemical field in China. The 20 million MTY refining capacity enlargement is under way.

　　The basic facilities of Maoming are being increasingly perfected. The networks of railway, highway and shipping have been established.It takes us only one hour to reach Zhanjiang Airport and three hours to Guangzhou through express way. The city is connected with Jing-Guang and Guang-Jiu railway through Sanshui-Maoming railway and linked to Liu-Zhan railway by Hechun-Maoming railway. The No. 207 and No. 325 national highway cross the city. Maoming Port is the national class A opening port, one of the biggest ports in China. Fixed telephone are all program-controlled while mobile phones are widely used both in urban and rural area.

　　Scattered in three districts: Shuidong, Bohe and Beishanling, possessing eleven 500-ton up-grade docks in which four docks are higher than 10,000-ton grade, Maoming Port have the handling capacity of 17.59 million MTY. There are 6 international sea transportation enterprises and 16 coastal water transportation enterprises in the port. From Maoming, it take 184 nautical miles to Macao and 202 nautical miles to Hong Kong. Maoming is nearer sea way from Southwest area, even the midsouth area in China to Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and southeast Asia. Owning 1.112 million steres storage tanks and 250 kilometers pipeline, Maoming Port is fully provided with the facilities of receiving, discharge, storing and transporting liquid chemical product and oil with a yearly capacity of 18 million tons.
